Downstream Processing (DSP)

We use state-of-the-art equipment to develop simple and scalable processes envisioning large-scale cGMP manufacturing. We implement unit operations based on membrane processes which allow for efficient cell removal and concentration of the product from the insect cell production bulks.

Clarification & concentration

microfiltration using dead-end depth filters
membrane cassettes or hollow fibers for tangential crossflow filtration (micro- and ultrafiltration)

Purification

preparative liquid chromatography systems, including an ÄKTA avant 150 that allows for efficient and fast chromatographic process screening and optimization based on Quality by Design approaches

Disposable processing

single-use or disposable materials are used due to a number of advantages, e.g., no cleaning and validation after utilization; particularly on chromatography we use disposable porous matrices based on membrane adsorbers and monoliths, especially suited for purification of large biologicals
